The agreement outlines a comprehensive approach that includes:

  • Improved glacier protection through research: The partnership will promote scientific studies on the impact of climate change on glaciers and mountain ecosystems, ensuring informed conservation efforts.
  • Training and safety for mountain guides: Tailor-made training programmes will be developed to enhance the expertise of mountain guides, equipping them with essential skills to safely navigate high altitude terrain.
  • Collaboration for sustainable mountaineering: Both institutions will work together to implement conservation initiatives and promote responsible tourism in high mountain areas.

This agreement represents a significant step forward in collaboration between scientific researchers and mountain professionals in Peru. It will ensure the protection of the country's glaciers and increase the safety of those who explore its majestic peaks.

Together, AGMP and INAIGEM are securing a sustainable future for both Peru's mountains and the people who travel through them.
