During the 2023 General Assembly, held on the 24th of November in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The IFMGA Board proposed Juliana García, IFMGA Mountain Guide from Ecuador as an elected Honorary Member for her outstanding services to the IFMGA during her two periods on the Managing Board. For the last six years, she created and managed the Communication Department of the federation that supervises and works in all the digital channels of the federation to the public. During her time, she worked coordinating the communications that were sent through social media and newsletters.

Juliana became the first woman to occupy a seat on the board, and the first person outside the European continent to be in this position. In her two periods she supported the south American member associations relations with the IFMGA as well as promoted the aims of the federation towards environmental responsibilities, sustainability and diversity.
