For almost 50 years, the IFMGA has been organizing championships in skiing and climbing. Besides the competitions, maintaining contacts is also very important. The meetings help us to build up an international network and to get to know mountain guides from other regions and countries. This can help with questions about unknown tours, or what the conditions are like in another area at the moment.

On the weekend of April 28-30, the local guide associations of Grindelwald and Lauterbrunen, an area of great importance for the mountain guiding profession in its 125 years of existence, organized a great event for the 48th edition of the IFMGA Ski Championships.  More than 150 people from all over the world gathered at the foot of the Eiger to enjoy this celebration of mountain guiding. For the first time since these competitions began, the event was attended by the entire UIAGM Board of Directors and representatives of the associations of the United States and Ecuador, AMGA and ASEGUIM.

These were great days to strengthen ties between mountain guides and to continue enjoying the mountain safely. Thanks to those responsible for the organization for their dedication in planning this important event.
