A WORD FROM THE IFMGA PRESIDENT
On behalf of the UIAGM/IVBV/IFMGA, I welcome all mountain guides and their partners to this the 47th Mountain Guides Ski Race.
The IFMGA is unique, being the only professional organisation in the world with a common training and assessment standard, and so wherever in the world we come from, we all wear the badge with pride. Two other important facets of our profession are friendship, and mutual respect born of our love of the mountains.
The Aosta Valley with its delicious food and wine, and surrounded by some of the greatest mountains in the Alps (Mt Blanc, Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and the Grand Paradiso) is a favourite haunt of mountain guides. Valtournenche – Breuil Cervinia, where the ski race shall take place, is one of the pearls of the region. The racing can be as competitive as you wish. Some enjoy the competitive edge, others cruise down enjoying the scenery. It doesn’t matter.
All that does matter is that you come and enjoy all that Valtournenche – Breuil Cervinia and Aosta Valley have to offer. Partners are welcome; friendship and mutual respect are guaranteed.
I look forward to meeting you in Valtournenche – Breuil Cervinia.
